In older homes (or in this case a condo), there is often a step up or down when moving from one room to another. Usually because of additions or transitions to different parts of the house. When we’re younger, we don’t even think of these (except when we trip over them!), but as we age, they can be a cause for tripping as well as just plain difficult to get up or down.

In this scenario, the step went up into the bathroom area and because of the wide doorway, it was an obvious trip alert. A short, vertical, grab bar was installed and problem solved. In this case, the curtains were also removed later on because they would certainly cause problems as the senior would have to move around them.
